5 Kid & Tween programs worth the drive to the Bush Library!

bush woodlandsmommy2
Have you visited the Barbara Bush library in Spring? It's part of Harris County Public Library System and offers a ton of activities for the community such as storytimes, open mic nights, teen crafts, computer classes, book clubs, puppet shows, and so much more!

Yes, there are several libraries closer for Woodlands-area readers (the South County Library on Lake Robbins Dr is just a few minutes away from home for me), but I don’t mind driving further sometimes to take advantage of a community program that’s awesome and free (and ALL the programs at the library are free).

Introducing Carolina Creek - Overnight Summer Camp for Kids

carolina creek 1
Have you heard of Carolina Creek’s overnight summer camp? It isn’t a Vacation Bible School away from home. It’s a summer camp for kids, offering a wide range of exciting activities and events connecting fun and faith! The best news (in our opinion) is that it's located in Hunstville, TX, only a short drive from The Woodlands, so it's an easy-to-access summer camp for our readers, especially if you're feeling a bit uneasy about your child being away from home.

Camp Cho-Yeh - an overnight Christian Summer Camp Adventure for your kids!

camp choyeh woodlandsmommy intro

I lost count of the number of times my daughter said “Mommy can you sign me up, please?” We did the March 3 Tour Day for Camp Cho-Yeh, and let me tell you… if you are toying around with the idea of sending your child to an overnight summer camp, doing a tour like this (Camp Cho-Yeh's next Open House Tour is April 7) is very highly recommended! Meeting the friendly staff and getting a look at the grounds definitely eased my mind about summer camp overnight. And if the idea of camp all the way in Livingston, Texas seems a bit far-fetched, let me assure you that it’s only 1 hour from the Woodlands, a very comfortable drive!

Camp Cho-Yeh is an overnight Christian camp comprised of 700 acres of wholesome adventure! We toured the cabins, the aquatic center, the Cho-Dome, and the Trading Post, and we got a look at the giant swing, various other buildings and lodges throughout the campgrounds, obstacle mud courses, the lake, ropes courses, and more!

You won't see everything in these photos, including the water sports and the giant lake inflatables that your kiddos will be able to enjoy during camp, but hopefully you'll get an idea.

Nature abounds at Camp Cho-Yeh, and at the heart of all the fun activities is a Christian-led camp where your child is growing in confidence while connecting with others and God's word. What more could you want?

The cabins and bathrooms were clean and spacious, and during our tour we were able to let off energy on the jumping pillow, shoot hoops on the basketball court, explore the amazing treehouse (including a double barrel slide that blew my mind), and we didn’t leave without getting a second helping of Cho-Cookies which were divine!

Please Don't Fall for These Top 4 Myths About New Year's Resolutions

myth busting
At this time of year we’re usually posing the question, "What New Year's resolutions did you make?" It seems most responses we’re getting lately are along the lines of "I don't make New Year's resolutions." It's about time to put to bed what we consider to be the top five myths about New Year's resolutions and whether or not they are worth our time.

Myth #1: They do not work.

New Year's resolutions will work if you do. Resolution setting is goal setting. The truth is many people have a fear of setting goals because they have a fear of failure or they fear meeting face-to-face with their shortcomings. Both fears are unjustified. How do you plan to make positive changes if you do not set realistic goals and then act upon them? You must act to achieve.

Myth #2: There is no sense in making them.

Lone Star Lights - Editor's Review + 40% OFF in 2023!

lonestar1
I cried 2 times at Lone Star Lights. My family and I started the evening of our Huntsville-located holiday lights experience with the dinner theater add-on, and the play was bring-you-to-tears hilarious. I was not expecting it to be so delightful! Even more, the food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. We had a salad, baked potato soup, our choice from three premium entrées, and a decadent dessert. The experience included gourmet table settings and an attentive wait staff. If you end up making plans for Lone Star Lights, consider this add-on, especially if you have older kiddos!
