A Quick Look: Gosling Sports Fields Playground

2025 01 20 13.58.06
Here's a photo tour of the playground at Gosling Sports Field located at 4055 Marisco Pl in The Woodlands. Maybe you've been here for your child's sports games / tournaments or to visit the playground, but in case you haven't, here's a glance. The playground is simple, yet fun, and the seesaw is suitable for big kids too (and I should know, because I tried it with my teen, and was quite fun for both of us! I might have even had a bit of trouble getting off of it.).

One of my favorite Christmas experiences is back for its third year. Get ready to experience the magic of the holiday season like never before! Lone Star Lights, brought to you by Carolina Creek, is more than just a dazzling display of Christmas lights—it’s an immersive holiday adventure the whole family will love.

From November 22 to December 22, Lone Star Lights transforms 17 acres into a breathtaking spectacle of 1.2 million twinkling lights across six enchanting, themed zones. And one of the best parts? You can play in 270 tons of real snow at Snow Cap Bay—right here in Texas! Whether you’re racing down the sledding hill, building snowmen, or having an epic snowball fight, you’ll feel the magic of winter in every moment.

But the holiday fun doesn’t stop there. Sip on hot chocolate, snack on funnel cakes, and listen to live performances from local musicians. Explore the River of Light, meander through the Luminary Trail, and make lasting memories with a visit to the petting zoo or a ride on a real horse. And don’t forget to stop by Santa’s workshop for a FREE family photo with Santa himself—yes, absolutely free!

When you visit, you’ll experience:

  • Over 1.2 million lights across 17 acres
  • Six themed zones like Snow Cap Bay with 270 tons of real snow, River of Light, and Luminary Trail
  • Free photos with Santa in his workshop (yes, you read that right – totally free!)
  • Chat with Rolly the Reindeer.
  • Make crafts in the Toymaker’s Shop.
  • Post prayers at the Prayer Arbors.
  • Pet your favorite farm animals in the petting farm.
  • Ride a horse or pony.
  • Capture an in-flight view of the lights on the zipline, aerial park, or giant swing.
  • Be uplifted by live music from local bands.
  • Get inspired by the A.D. Players' rendition of “Gift of the Magi” at the dinner theatre.
  • Browse the artisan market for one-of-a-kind gifts from local artists.
  • Grab a meal or snack at one of the local food trucks
  • And so much more!

If you love Christmas, you won’t want to miss the A.D. Players’ performance of The Gift of the Magi at the Dinner Theatre. Enjoy a festive four-course meal while watching this heartwarming story of love and sacrifice unfold —it’s the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.

Or, make a weekend out of it and stay in a Christmas-themed lodge or cabin, where every detail, from the twinkling lights to the cozy decorations, will delight the entire family.

And if you can’t get enough Christmas magic, the Lone Star Lights Season Pass gives you unlimited access all season long, plus exclusive discounts on the Dinner Theatre, lodging, and fun add-ons like ziplining and the Arctic swing!

A new mural, "The Beauty of Nature in The Woodlands," was unveiled on Thursday, October 17, as part of the celebration honoring The Woodlands 50th Anniversary. Located on the base of The Millennium sculpture adjacent to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion along The Woodlands Waterway, the artwork is a collaboration between local artist Amy Malkan and Marlo Saucedo, a resident of The Woodlands, who were selected through an open call from The Woodlands Arts Council.
