Our Saturday travels led us to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, a 45-minute drive away from home. And what to our wondering eyes should appear! The pumpkin patch on the front lawn of the church was a delightful treat, especially given that this was already our intended destination. My 13-year-old daughter takes special needs dance classes at this church, so we just happened to be in the right place at the right time! (Feel free to send me an email if you want to learn more about the classes).
The patch boasts gorgeous pumpkins and gourds of various sizes, and everything is priced affordably. No purchase is necessary. You can simply drop in and snap photos! Hours are 9am – 7pm Mondays – Saturdays, and 10:30am – 7:00pm on Sundays. There are various pumpkin arrangements plus a wagon hay bale scene. It’s the cutest! We purchased a very small, smooth, symmetrical pumpkin, and it was only a dollar! Proceeds of the pumpkin patch sale go to support summer mission trips for the church’s youth.
Memorial Drive United Methodist Church is located at 12955 Memorial Dr, zip code 77079. If you’re not familiar with this area of town, as I already mentioned, it’s a 45-minute drive from The Woodlands, so hit up Starbucks and enjoy your favorite fall beverage on the drive down. The church is just across the way from Town & County / City Centre - an established, family-friendly, upscale area with stores like Anthropologie and West Elm, a movie theater, and eateries. Our faves in the area to explore are Learning Express Toys (the largest LE Toys location in the Houston area), and Memorial City Mall which has an ice skating rink plus a couple of really neat play areas for kids.
