Another popular option I’ve seen in recent years is a Sip & See. Rather than gathering before the baby arrives, you invite friends and family to stop by after the birth to meet your newest little one.
These gatherings are often relaxed and informal. Your guests can visit with you, admire the nursery, enjoy some light refreshments, and spend time getting to know the baby.
Many moms love Sip & Sees because the focus naturally shifts away from gifts and toward celebrating the newest member of the family. (And many guests will still show up with a gift and maybe even a meal for your freezer!)
Since newborns have developing immune systems, encourage guests to wash their hands before holding the baby. About a month after your baby's arrival is often a great time to host one.
Who Should Host?
Because baby sprinkles and Sip & Sees tend to be less gift-focused than traditional showers, people are often more relaxed about who hosts them.
A close friend or family member may offer to organize the event, but many moms also feel comfortable taking a more active role in planning these types of celebrations for themselves.
