Texas Comptroller’s Office Features Interactive Video Series to Inspire Kids to Think About College

With Texas families spending much of their time together indoors because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Comptroller’s office is featuring a creative way to get kids excited about their futures with an interactive video and activity series on the agency’s Meet Your Future webpage presented by the Texas Tuition Promise Fund® and the Texas College Savings Plan®.

The three career videos — The Future of Food, The Future of Transportation, The Future of Agriculture — show kids what the future might look like and how college could help them on that journey.

Before COVID-19, checking out new library books, enjoying storytimes and other programs, and visiting the Friends of the Library bookstore for awesomely priced books and magazines were weekly occurrences for me and my family. Oh how we missed being within those walls! That’s why we’re so pleased that Phase I of the Montgomery County Library System’s reopening is currently in effect. Here are the details: 

The Woodlands Family YMCA Reopening - June 1

The YMCA will be open for the summer! The YMCA of Greater Houston which includes The Woodlands Family YMCA will reopen a limited number of facilities for fitness-related services beginning June 1 as part of the organization’s phased opening approach. The Y will release additional details the week of May 18 regarding locations, amenities and youth programs, including summer camps, that will reopen in phase one. Additionally, the company will share more information about their phased approach, enhanced safety measures based on any updated guidelines and an estimated timeline for further reopening announcements.

Texas & The Woodlands Re-Openings!

Our little corner of the world is re-opening for business! We know for a fact that our readers have mixed feelings about this; some think it's too soon, and others say "not soon enough!" Regardless, we thought you should know that as of Friday, May 8, hair and nail salons in Texas can re-open, following appropriate social distancing and other indicated guidelines. This means that if you're almost out of patience trying to hide those roots, the end is in sight!

Also, if you're feeling a little "fluffier" after being cooped up at home for a couple of months, you might be pleased to know that g
yms and exercise facilities may reopen on May 18. Additionally, office-based business operations may begin again on May 18, so be sure to communicate with your employer to find out how this affects you and your job. And just in case you didn't get our earlier memo, The Woodlands Mall and other retailers are now open for in-person shopping, and many stores are having great sales!

Market Street announces retail-to-go options beginning April 24

Beginning Friday, April 24, Market Street is offering shoppers a retail-to-go experience at select boutiques.  Individual retailers are selling items for delivery or pickup and customers may shop from their home or their car. Louis Vuitton, Hemline, Kendra Scott, Luxe Custom Collective, The Woodhouse Day Spa and Thomas Markle Jewelers are set to feature a retail-to-go option, with additional retailers expected to join in the coming days and weeks.
