If you feel compelled to bestow your favorite teachers with a small token of appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week or the last week of school, here are some thoughtful gifts that are easy on the pocketbook and don't require too much time and effort:
1. Mini Bundtlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes - These moist little cakes are like little bits of heaven! For the teacher with a sweet tooth, they come in half a dozen flavors and make a great presentation. Nothing Bundt Cakes in The Woodlands is located next to Trader Joe's in the Kuykendahl/Gosling shopping center.
2. $25 Visa Gift Card - Let the teacher buy whatever she wants! (Okay, whatever she wants that costs $25 or less, that is). A Visa, MC, or Amex gift card is universal enough for her to spend it anywhere, and $25 is enough for lunch with dessert, or a new pair of sandals, or a manicure.
3. Insulated tumbler with lid - Who doesn't like "sippy cups"? For less than 10 bucks, you can find cute tumblers, coffee mugs, or thermoses/bottles at most grocery and department stores, and certainly at Hobby Lobby. Summer is the season to keep ice water in tow, so a new beverage container will come in handy.
4. "Thank You" Card - Never underestimate the power of a kind word. A greeting card is inexpensive, and you can make your own for even less. Like everyone else, teachers want to feel genuinely appreciated. So find a card that expresses kind sentiments, and be sure to add a few lines of your own to make it extra special.
5. Variety Basket - As the name implies, these are baskets that contain a variety of delightful treats for the recipient. Find a small basket or bucket at the $1.00 Store, and fill it with lots of inexpensive goodies: a bottle of chilled coffee, pack of gum, bag a nuts, the Oprah Magazine, a crossword puzzle book, bag of cookies, a few tea bags... anything goes.
