Are you considering music lessons for your child? Whether your child is 4 or 14, learning to play an instrument can help improve academic skills, increase discipline and confidence, plus give him a lifelong ability of which he/she can be proud! Before making the plunge into lessons, however, be sure to heed these tips from Rhythm Music School of The Woodlands and Spring to help find the best provider for your family.
1. Take lessons with a teacher who is fun. Having a teacher who has a fun, positive attitude makes learning easier. Your child will feel energized, inspired, and encouraged, like he/she can take on the world!
2. Take lessons at a school that has multiple teachers for each instrument. Music teachers come and go. Sometimes “life” simply happens – and teachers relocate or have to experience unavoidable family commitments. Says Andrew Muema, Owner and Director of Rhythm Music School, “I had several guitar teachers when I was young. When you take lessons at a school with multiple teachers, changing teachers becomes easy. These teachers were all hired by the same music lessons authority and thus have similar teaching styles. If your teacher leaves or stops teaching when you aren’t taking lessons at a school like this, you have to start the whole process over to find another good teacher.”
