Did you know that only 49.9% of Conroe ISD students entered Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year, ready for kindergarten?*

Reading readiness is important because it lays the foundation for a child’s future success in school. By preparing your child for kindergarten, you are giving them a head start by helping them develop the skills necessary for successful literacy development. This includes letter recognition and phonemic awareness (knowing sounds), print concepts (understanding book orientation), vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
