Spring will be in full swing at north Houston’s City Place next month as March marks the launch of three, new reoccurring series– Pianos on the Plaza, Soccer Shots and Sound Bath Meditation – in addition to offering an array of regular programming, plus a week of spring break activations spotlighting the Texas Bubblers, Mad Science, Young Audiences of Houston Music Workshops and more. School is out, and City Place is celebrating with complimentary, kid-friendly activations each day between March 13 and 17. Kicking off the fun at 10 am on March 13, 14, 16 and 17, Soccer Shots will be hosting workshops that build on sport skills and character development. That will be followed on those dates at 1 pm by Mad Science, a showcase of exciting hand on science experiments. March 13, 14 and 16 will also see Young Audiences of Houston take center stage on The Plaza at 3 pm with complimentary music and art-centric workshops for family education and entertainment.
The Texas Bubblers will use their wands to create art bubbles as large as 10 feet wide on March 13 and 15 at 5 pm, plus March 17 at 3 pm. Complimentary Field Day Yoga, open to beginners of all ages, will take place at 5 pm on March 14 and 16. The festivities conclude with Piano in the Park at 6:30 pm on March 17, featuring a live piano performance by Randy Wall just as the sun sets.

New Programming
While Magical Winter Lights, the largest lantern festival of its kind in the US, is over until next holiday season, the beauty of these stunning creations will live on at north Houston’s City Place as a special kick off to spring. Starting March 13, the Luminous installation will weave dazzling elements of flora and fauna into City Place Park, creating an enchanted garden with hand-crafted and eye-catching pieces that reflect a modern take on age-old lantern-making techniques. There is no cost to visit, and the installation will be on display through April 14.
New to City Place this spring, the Pianos on the Plaza series will take place at 6:30 pm on March 3, 17 and 31. The festive Friday evening performances will each showcase live piano music paired with a standout singer. This month’s performances will feature Brooke Alyson's Piano Revue and Randy Wall.
Recurring Programming
The popular Your Neighborhood Farmers Market comes back to City Place on March 15 from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Perfectly timed with Spring Break and warmer weather, the family-friendly market is a great opportunity to support local farms and shop artisanal producers.
It’s another thrilling kid’s night out with an exciting Children’s Storytime led by a special character. This month’s edition is taking place on March 9 at 5:30 pm.
Stop by Sunday Sounds on March 12 and 26 from 2 until 4. Kyle Mathis will start out the month with a mix of classic rock and country, while LA Sax closes it out with a set of smooth jazz. The live music and waterfront setting make the family-friendly afternoon the perfect way to enjoy the pleasant spring weather.
Every Saturday in March – the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th – at 8:30 a.m., Camp Gladiator hits The Plaza for its hour-long cardio and strength-training classes. Moms searching for a new workout can roll over to The Plaza with their newborns and toddlers for Fit4Mom Stroller Barre Wednesdays – March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 – at 9:30 a.m. Yoga at the Plaza takes place each Saturday – March 4, 11, 18 and 25 – at 10:00 a.m. Both Fit4Mom and Camp Gladiator offer a complimentary first class with membership options following, while yoga is always complimentary.
