Pirate 'n Mermaid Day

The Woodlands Children's Museum exhibits will be open for play, including The Muse art bar where children can create a unique pirate hat or mermaid mask. In the Light Lab, children can engage in hands-on opportunities that explore color and shape recognition through sorting and matching of nautical themed objects.

Also, children can make fish lips and strike a pose for a photo opportunity with Princess Ariel at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, and 1:30pm. In addition, there will be Pirate meet and greets at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm. During the event, guests are encouraged to explore the museum with a treasure map and be on the lookout for hidden objects.

At 11:00am, gather for a mermaid-themed reading of Lola: The Bracelet of Courage by Sarah Cullen and Carmen EllisIn this tale, Lola the mermaid loses a magical bracelet that helps her feel brave and must seek a new way home through a kelp forest and dark cave. At 1:00pm, enjoy How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long. In this story, Jeremy Jacob sets off on an adventurous voyage with a pirate crew and discovers the finer points of being a pirate, such as throwing his food across the table, getting rid of his manners, and ignoring bedtime.

Guests are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets for this popular event at www.woodlandschildrensmuseum.org. Tickets are $9 for guests over one year old and museum members are free. Pirate ‘n Mermaid Day activities are included with the price of admission.
