Storybook Theatre in AUGUST
Friday, August 23, 2024, 11:00am

Storybook Theatre at 11am Friday, August 9th presents “Rapunzel” adapted by Stephanie Stansbie. This updated version of a classic fairy tale features a very clever Rapunzel, who’s been locked in a tower by an old witch ever since she was a baby.  Thanks to a visit from a young prince, she gets an idea on how to finally escape!  After today’s story, Darryl Bayer, Director for The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra, and some of his musical friends will play samplings from musical pieces featured in the upcoming performance of “Once Upon a Symphony” at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on September 18.  Selections include music from Rapunzel/Tangled!

Storybook Theatre at 11am Friday, August 16th presents “I Am Too Absolutely Small for School” by Lauren Child. Patient big brother Charlie convinces a nervous, reluctant Lola that school is definitely a good thing for her and her invisible friend, Soren Lorensen. This delightful story is perfect for the back-to-school season.

Storybook Theatre at 11am Friday, August 23rd presents “Fifi the Ferocious” by Lucas Miller We’re celebrating National Dog Day (August 26) a little early with the story of a fluffy little lapdog who thinks she’s ferocious. However, when she ventures into the world outside her comfy home, she encounters some creatures that stand up to her with their own natural defenses.

Storybook Theatre at 11am Friday, August 30th presents “The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf. This book is a treasured classic! Ferdinand is a peaceful, happy little bull who prefers to just sit and smell the flowers instead of fighting. He is definitely a perfect example for children of the importance of being their true selves.

Introduce your child to the wonder of reading and instill a love of books at an early age. Storybook Theatre combines your favorite childhood books with songs, rhymes and fingerplays which are meant to promote early literacy and enhance language development.
