20th Annual Nature Fest

Nature lovers of all ages are invited to Jones Park for a day of discovery. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the diverse natural world around them thanks to 25 educational exhibits. Native plants & herbs and concessions available for purchase from the Jesse Jones Park Volunteers, and get planting advice from the Native Plant Society of Texas.

Great for Scout groups, families and visitors of all ages. Kids Zone includes face painting and crafts with Wild Birds Unlimited-Kingwood and the Texas Master Naturalists. See the reptiles in the nature center, too.
A guided Bird Walk starts at 8:00 a.m. with the infamous Rob Comstock and Ken & Deb Beeney. Meet at the entrance to the Canoe Launch Trail. Or join Houston Audubon on the porch of the nature center to learn how to use binoculars at 10 a.m.
Stage Acts start at 10 a.m. and include Q&A with ambassador animals and Zumba classes with US Fish & Wildlife Service and their costumed Attwater's Prairie Chicken!

Take a guided hike with Houston Women's Hiking Group or Harris County Precinct 3 naturalists and Texas Master Naturalists at 10, 11, 12 or 1 p.m.

Take pictures with ambassador animals from Baytown Nature Center, Houston Humane Society, The Wildlife Center of Texas, Texas Hawking Association and the Downtown Aquarium. Learn to fish in the Catfish Tank with Fishing's Future and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department's Angler Education team. Try out the latest camping & boating equipment with REI and the Houston Association of Sea Kayakers.

Learn about engineering with SWCA-Environmental, and advocacy with Citizen's Climate Lobby and Houston Wilderness. See what's going on in the watershed and ways to volunteer with Cypress Creek Greenway Association, Galveston Bay Estuary Program, Bayou Land Conservancy, Bayou Preservation Association and Lower Brazos River Watch. Fancy feathers with Gulf Coast Bird Observatory and American Bird Conservancy and chat with foresters from the Texas Forest Service.
