Storybook Theatre in February
Friday, February 13, 2026, 11:00am

Storybook Theatre, Friday, February 6th at 11am presents “Tacky and the Winter Games” by Helen Lester. The Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics is tonight, and this is the perfect story to celebrate sportsmanship, determination, competition, and the thrill of the games! Children will delight in the antics of Tacky and his fellow penguin friends as they participate in the winter games.

Storybook Theatre, Friday, February 13th at 11am presents “The Year of the Horse: Tales from the Chinese Zodiac” by Oliver Chin. 2026 is The Year of the Horse, specifically the Fire Horse. Hannah is a foal who sets out on an adventure with her friend Tom, trying to find out what she’s good at while showing her courage. This story, in honor of Lunar New Year, showcases all the animals of the Chinese Zodiac and highlights Asian culture.

On February 20 at 11:00am enjoy an author visit with Mary Wingfield, Ed.D., and Victoria Fields, Ph.D., who will read their book “Basil and Bixie: Beaches and Blizzards”.  We are exploring the seasons in this adventure story that is part of the Basil and Bixie series, which encourages children to use their curiosity to discover science first-hand. Basil and Bixie enjoy all the seasons and find fun activities no matter what the weather while learning why the seasons occur. The book will be read in both English and Spanish on stage; and that will be immediately followed by a meet and greet, where the authors will sell and sign their books until 12:15pm. Also after the story there will be a hands-on science activity on the stage and an art project in the Muse related to the story.

Storybook Theatre, Friday, February 27th at 11am presents “What Pet Should I Get?” by Dr. Seuss. This Dr. Seuss treasure follows a brother and sister into a pet store as they try to make up their minds as to what pet to choose. It teaches the lesson that it’s hard to make decisions, but sometimes you just have to!  Then at 12:30pm enjoy “My Many Colored Days and “I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!” by Dr. Seuss.  “The more that you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.
