It’s always a risk when you’re buying furniture online, especially assemble-it-yourself pieces. So whenever I find a WINNER, I love to tell you guys about it! I was in the market for a modern design desk that had a lot of storage, and I found this cute Tribesigns Stores desk that happened to be $169 on Amazon (I know right? It’s a bargain!).
I’m pleased to say the desk looks great, it’s sturdy, and it was a quick assembly! I did a lot of browsing, and this seems to be one of the best desks under $200 on Amazon. If you need a new desk with plenty of space for your home office, or if the kids need a homework / homeschool desk, and you’re shopping on a budget, this one could be a great option for you.
Listen... there are no USB ports, no LED lights, and no headphone hook with this desk. It's not an L-shaped desk, and it's not one of those adjustable desks you can move up and down. It doesn't make coffee for you. It doesn't even have drawers. It's a simple design with no extra features, but the open shelves are a nice touch, and it has plenty of room for just about everything you'd want to put on a desk. It's just what I was needing to get my kids away from the kitchen table and back to our designated schoolroom. So far, I've ordered only one, but I'll be ordering another two this week!
The description on Amazon states that the desk takes 20 minutes to assemble, but that wasn’t quite the case for us. I’d say it took twice as long, with both my husband and I working alongside each other. Even still, 40 minutes isn’t that bad. You can look at my photo of the desk and see that it doesn’t come with a lot of pieces, so it’s not intimidating at all.
This desk is available in several different color options. We choose the light walnut and white. The wood (actually, it’s laminate, so it's very easy to clean) is beautiful and strong, and the desk has a white metal frame. At 47” wide and half as deep, the large surface area of the desktop offers enough room for at least two computers with large monitors plus other décor items. The bottom shelf is perfect for storing an assembly of books, and the top shelf is divided into 3 sections which is good for office supplies, binders, notebooks, and even small décor items like plants.
Now obviously a desk at this price point won’t get you a West Elm or Pottery Barn quality, and the one noticeable flaw is that the screws are visible. This doesn’t really bother me, especially since the desk is tucked away into our homeschool room upstairs, but just to make it as lovely as possible, I’m ordering THESE adhesives that will cover the screws just fine. The pack comes with several different colors, so some will match the white metal while others will match the screws that are adjacent to the faux wood.
Now... more good news about this desk. It's part of Amazon's "Climate Pledge Friendly" and is made with materials from well-managed forests, recycled materials, and/or other controlled wood sources. If you care about the environment (and I know you do), this should make your heart happy!
