Your Teenager and Driver’s Ed – Editor's Review of Aceable

drivers ed
When your child is 14 years old, he/she will be old enough to start driver’s ed!

MIND BLOWN, right? They just grow up too fast! When they’re 15-years-old, they can get their driver’s permit in Texas. And then it’s on to the provisional license at 16.

We’ve been enjoying our experience with the online driver’s ed program, Aceable, and I wanted to share some details here because I HIGHLY recommend it.

Aceable is considered a “parent-led” program, but that doesn’t mean YOU have to do all the work. Everything is organized and laid out in an app that my daughter does completely independently on her cell phone. The app is accessible anytime and from anywhere, so she can progress through the program whenever she has free time. The content is engaging with interactive videos, witty writing, and fun memes! My job is to answer any questions that she might have and to teach her the actual hands-on driving part.

We started off driving in the parking lot at Woodsedge Church (shhh, don’t tell the powers that be!), and we eventually moved on to street driving navigating the streets of The Woodlands on weekday mornings when traffic is light. Aceable gives us all the practical tools we need including forms and instructions for getting the drivers permit (obtained back in July 2020), for keeping a log of the hours, etc. It’s really so simple!

My daughter doesn’t tun 16 for a few more months, so she is just taking her time finishing the rest of the app program, while simultaneously getting in drive time when it’s convenient for my husband and me. Aceable is less than $100 (we signed up for about $60 total during a promo), and we’ve gained so much convenience and time. I love not having to drop her off at a driving school!

If you end up using Aceable, I think you’ll enjoy this program!
