Fun & Frights At SeaWorld San Antonio This October
SeaWorld San Antonio is celebrating Halloween all month long with fun by day at Spooktacular and fright by night at Howl-O-Scream. My family recently had a chance to check out the fun that awaits every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 28. We had an amazing time revisiting favorite rides, checking out some new ones (yeah for taller kids!), enjoying Halloween-themed shows and a special themed dining experience!
SeaWorld's Spooktacular features kid-friendly Halloween shows and activities that are fun for the whole family. Pumpkins and hay bales are scattered all over the park and were the perfect backdrop for family photos. My kids loved trick-or-treating throughout the park at various shops and meeting scarecrows in the hay maze (located next to their favorite playground - the perfect place to run around and burn off energy). Spooktacular also features all the park's popular shows, rides and attractions. We enjoyed a Halloween-themed Pet's Ahoy, featuring trained animals adopted from local shelters, and One World, featuring SeaWorld's famous killer whales. Even the penguins got into the fall fun with pumpkins to play with in their habitat. My family enjoyed lunch at the Pumpkin Patch Picnic where each kid got to pick their own pumpkin and paint
it. While their masterpieces dried we enjoyed a
delicious buffet lunch full of barbeque favorites (and pumpkin-shaped sugar cookies - definitely kid favorites!).
Our family took plenty of turns on the Shamu Express Kids Roller Coaster and my newly 48" older son was thrilled to test out Steel Eel and Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster for the first time (and second, and third, and fourth!). Crowds were light enough for us to enjoy light lines (if any!) and great seats at the shows. I was lucky to be the "dry bag holder" as my husband took the kids on the two water rides - Rio Loco and Journey to Atlantis. They were in wet, drippy heaven, which made little difference as we spent most of our day dodging rain storms. Rain never put a damper on our fun, however! Rides continued to operate and shows gave us a covered break from the weather.
Once the sun goes down, Howl-O-Scream transforms the peaceful park you once knew into something sinister. Nightfall awakens hundreds of creatures that roam five scare zones and lurk the halls of four haunted houses, including the all-new Zombie Horde. There are also signature Halloween bars and thrilling live shows. You can dine with creatures of the night during the terrifyingly delicious dining experience Fright Feast. A pair of vampires host this full buffet that you can really sink your teeth into... and reservations include priority seating for the thrilling new live show Monster Stomp. Howl-O-Scream starts at 7:00 p.m. and may not be suitable for kids under the age of 13. For parents that want to continue their fun, SeaWorld offers a parent's night out program called Spook-Camp-ular where kids can have a safe and fun-filled evening filled with animals, pizza and games while parents enjoy all the haunted thrills at Howl-O-Scream. The program is offered for kids ages 5-13 from 5:30pm-10:30pm for an additional fee.
