"Literally no intention of mothering tonight" - GNO with #IMOMSOHARD
Moms, best friends and funny ladies Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, creators of the viral web-series #IMOMSOHARD, brought their Mom's Night Out: Round 2 show to Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land on September 25th. Through their web videos the duo copes with parenthood by laughing about all of the craziness that comes with being a mom, from snot to stretchmarks to sleepless nights. They try, they fail, they support each other, and they mom as hard as they can.
As a legion of moms made it from the long, winding wine lines to their seats, the show began with a montage of video clips introducing us to friends Kristin and Jen. Their first act had moms (and a few dads!) in stitches with relatable comedy about celebrity crushes, married sex and the dynamics of the mom group text. One of the funniest bits was when the pair headed into the audience to collect purses to rummage through on stage. Small clutch? "You literally have no intention of mothering tonight." Large bag full of crap? "Hon, your bag is a cry for help and we are here to support you and make fun of you at the same time." After intermission the moms returned to take audience-submitted questions dealing with everything from spicing up a stale marriage to how to cope with in-laws. The show ended with their "I 80s Workout So Hard" clip and a live reenactment, stretchy 80s leotards and all.
The laughs came easily because Kristin and Jen brought hilarity to the normal every day struggle of motherhood. Every mom can relate to stuffing themselves into Spanx, hiding from kids that won't let you pee with the door closed or the wreck your body is after kids. The duo plan to take their comedy to the small screen and are currently in development of a pilot for CBS. For more information, visit imomsohard.com.
