The Good Vibe Farm - Add this to your fall to-do list!
October afternoons are for adventures, and that’s certainly what we enjoyed this past Monday afternoon when my family of 6 visitedThe Good Vibe Farm in Tomball. If you appreciate friendly farm animals, visiting this lovely family estate - located just 25 minutes from The Woodlands - is something you must experience this autumn! We received a leisurely, organized tour of the grounds by the owner, Joei, and one of her sweet kiddos, and they were the most gracious, pleasant hosts we could have wanted! They were eager to share their knowledge (my 6 year old asked lots of questions) and made us feel so welcome! Here's a quick video; then read on below for even more details and photos:
The Good Vibe Farm offers private tours, so we had the whole farm to ourselves (along with our hosts) for just over an hour, and every bit of our time was consumed doing something different and exciting to us. First, we got to enjoy the sweet female goats. They were friendly and clean, and they love to climb!
When the goats went out to the pasture, we got a chance to focus on Wilbur, the sweet pot-bellied pig. Did you know that pigs are actually much cleaner animals than most people think? It’s true, although this pig was pretty dirty at the time because he’d been rooting around in the dirt.
The chickens were a lot of fun too! One of the chickens was actually in the coop laying an egg during our visit, and before we left, my baby girl was able to retrieve the egg (plus 3 others that were ready for grabbing), and Joei so generously gifted us these precious eggs. I know it will make the best omelet I’ve had in a while!
Joei and her husband are a homeschooling family with four kiddos (2 sets of twins), and The Good Vibe farm is open by appointment only for private tours and horse painting. All proceeds go for the care of the animals, many of which are rescues.
Right from our hands, we fed the goats, chickens, and the pigs, and boy were they all very happy to eat!
At this point in the delightful tour, my heart was already full, but there was more to come! Out in the pastures, we were greeted by miniature horses, sweet donkeys (my 6-year old got to sit on one), and lovely horses. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be a little girl again as much as a did on this day! The animals were all clean and gentle and seemed to be very happy! We got a chance to feed some of the horses, including Geronimo who is about 32 years old. A couple of the horses were colorful because the farm offers a horse-painting activity that you can reserve, and the horses love getting painted because they appreciate all the attention. We didn't paint horses on this visit, but I hope to get a chance to soon.
Sitting on the dock feeding bread to the turtles in the pond is more therapeutic than one might think. Beautiful weather and a clear sky made this segment of our tour just perfect for relaxing a bit . All that was missing was a guitar player strumming up Otis Redding’s 1960’s hit “Dock of the Bay”.
Well, it was time to say goodbye. But wait… not yet! My younger two girls and I couldn’t resist a ride on the swing!
And there was even more! On our way to see the Billy goats, we said hello to the cows and bull, and we got to see the baby cow drinking his mama’s milk. How sweet! After we fed the male goats, baby girl had one final whirl on a different swing, and then it was really time to say goodbye.
There were other fun treasures, such as the fairy garden and the Halloween decorations that greeted us at the entrance, but I'll save that for you to discover on your own! Check out The Good Vibe Farm on Facebook! You can book a private tour just for your family (or small group) right through the Facebook page. It’s a perfect way to soak up some Vitamin D, take off your masks, and have a fun farm experience! We loved it!
