Spring is in full swing, and City Place is blossoming this month with a calendar brimming with family-friendly programming on and around its central Plaza – 1250 Lake Plaza Drive, Spring, TX 77389 - ranging from festive Mother’s Day gathering and family movie night to recurring Bike Club and Children’s Storytime activations.
Things kick off this month with Sunday Strolls on May 8— aka Mother’s Day —when it’s is all about showing moms the love and fun they deserve. And if yours likes playing lawn games, she’s in luck, because there will be several to enjoy, along with snow cones and live music by flamenco jazz guitarist John Acevedo. The month’s second edition of Sunday Strolls take place May 22 and will feature the smooth jazz tunes of LA Sax. Times are 5:30-7:30 for both dates.
If you’re looking to level up on your pedal game this month, look no further than City Place Bike Club’s group rides on Tuesday, May 10 at 7 pm on Saturday, May 28 at 9 am. Led by Bike Texas, this leisurely-paced and all ages outing of approximately one hour will depart from the Star Cinema Grill parking lot directly across from The Mark off City Plaza Drive. At conclusion, meet up for some food and drink with your fellow riders with special discounts at Island Grill for participants.
Friday Night Live! is returning this month, and you won’t want to miss out on the dual editions of the popular happening, taking place on May 13 and 27, both from 6 to 9 pm. It’s the best time of year to enjoy the outdoors. Live music for May 13 will be provided by the Kelly Peters Trio, and May 27 spotlights Pete Simple.
The guest for this month’s iteration of Children’s Storytime on Friday, May 20 at 6 pm has been staring at the edge of the water for as long as she can remember, and your kiddos are about to discover why. That’s because — you guessed it — Moana, everyone’s favorite wayfaring Polynesian musical heroine, is going to be the guest of honor for this month’s happening. Make sure your little ones come with a sense of adventure, because there’s no telling how far the journey is going to go.
If the Moana-themed Children’s Storytime isn’t enough to satisfy your Disney fix, you’re in luck, because Family Movie Night is throwing down on Thursday, May 26 — aka Spring ISD’s last day of school — beginning at 8:30 pm, and another fictional heroine and her larger-than-life family are going to use their special magical talents to put on quite the show. Disney marvel “Encanto” is going to be screened at this month’s iteration of the family-friendly affair, and although we all know we’re not supposed to talk about Bruno, it’s totally okay if you sing along about him while enjoying the film.
If you’re looking to get your body in summer vacation shape this month, you might want to take advantage of Fitness on the Plaza. Camp Gladiator is back every Monday at 5:15 pm, every Wednesday at 5:15 and 6:30 pm, and every Saturday at 8:30 am for its hour-long cardio and strength-training classes.
