Lean in a bit closer... There. Now, let’s keep this between you and me, alright? Ready for this?
I am NOT a golf girl. And… my husband is SO not a golf guy. Seriously! Then how in the world was Topgolf Couples Night one of our best Date Nights of the year? Well okay, the fact that we weren't footing the bill may have had something to do with it (thanks to Topgolf for the incredible hospitality for this event), but the likelier reason is that Topgolf gave us an amazingly interactive, enjoyable, and even romantic evening with each other, one that reminded us about how much fun we had in our “courting” years. Folks, that's just not something you get at the typical date night venue.
I was able to invite along 9 other WoodlandsMommy.com reader couples to hang with us for Couples night, and this was the third and final event as part of a 3-event Blogger Event series. (I must admit – I’m starting to feel like I have a social life.) This was one affair to which our readers absolutely did NOT have to drag their husbands. For once, the men were just as excited (or more, I’m certain) about the night as the women were!
The night began with a lavish cocktail hour with us sipping sangria and lemonade, mingling with other couples, and snacking on a generous array of tasty appetizers – Mushi (Topgolf’s brilliant sushi-burrito-like creation) and a variety of flatbreads, etc. On the main menu? The Herb Infused Prime Rib with horseradish cream and whole grain Dijon mustard was cooked to perfection, and every mom I spoke to mentioned how delicious the salad was (yes, the Spinach & Goat Cheese Salad was downright scrumptious with those toasted pecans!!).
We played golf “Topgolf” style, and if you have no idea what that means, refer to my Ladies’ Night post to check out how the game and technology works. Now, if dinner and a movie is your typical date night, you might be very surprised to see how much more dynamic and gratifying your time with him will be when you’re being “active” with each other. Depending on the mood, you’re encouraging one another at the beginning, and then eventually there’s a bit of competitiveness and perhaps a hint of fun trash talk that leads to some coziness later (if that’s your thing)!
When you come, consider a bay upstairs near the beautiful rooftop terrace where it’s all about ambience. For our special event, we enjoyed live music that was certainly concert-worthy, and some of us even danced (hubby and I did because the acoustic guitarist was treating us to tunes that were simply irresistible). The terrace features an amazing view, comfy sofas around an open fire out, access to a full bar and a great menu. Next time we have friends in town, this is where we'll come to impress them!
