Summer Talk to your toddler about summer time. Explain that the weather gets hot and the sun shines very brightly. Introduce your child to summer attire - sunglasses, sun hats, sun dresses, sandals, and shorts. "These clothes help us stay cool on the hot summer days."
Ice Is Nice Let your toddler play with ice in a bowl or at the sink. Talk about how cold the ice is, and run water on the ice to watch it melt. For a fun experiment, let your child place an ice cube outside in a cup, and keep checking on the ice cube as it gets smaller and smaller until ultimately it is completely melted.
Go Fishing Make your fishing rods by using a long piece of string or yarn and tie a magnet on the end of it. Make paper fish shapes in various colors and each should have a letter of the alphabet written on it. Cover them with contact paper. Add a paper clip for its mouth either before of after you put contact paper on it. To play, have your child kneel backwards on a chair and go fishing.
Paper Plate Sun Materials: paper plate(large), yellow paint, glue, yellow strips of paper(rays of sun) Directions: Paint entire paper plate yellow. When somewhat dry glue the yellow strips around the plate-sticking outward.
