Trash Pick-Up
Scatter bits of paper throughout the
house ahead of time and take your
toddler on a trash pick-up, anouncing,
"let's clean up the house." Use a small
plastic bag to collect the trash, and
when all the trash has been picked up,
show your toddler how to throw away
the bag in your permanent trash can
(wherever it is located in the house.)
If it's a "step" wastebasket, let your
toddler try stepping on the pedal to
open the lid.

Let's Get Dirty
Let your child play with something
messy - chocolate pudding, dirt, etc.
Say "let's get dirty" and help him cover
both sides of his hands. When he's
finished, make a point to say "your
hands are soooo dirty. Let's go wash
them." After washing with soap and
water, announce "Look at your hands.
They're so clean now."

Vegetable Wash
Let your child help you wash potatoes
or other veggies in the sink or a large
pot using a toothbrush and soap.

Give your child a chance to wash
one of his outdoor toys (a tricycle,
wagon, or the side of YOUR car!)
Make sudsy water in a bucket, dress
him in swim clothes, and give him a
large towel. This activity can also be
done indoors -  in the bathtub or at the
sink. Find something that needs
cleaning and let your toddler have at it!

Slippery Soap
Give your child a chance to rub a bar
of soap in between his wet hands.
She'll have fun trying to hang on to it.

Clean Up Song
Clean up,
Clean up,
Everybody, Everywhere.
Clean up,
Clean up,
Everybody do their share.

It's Time To Cleanup
(Tune: "Frere Jacques")
Are you helping,
are you helping
Pick up toys, Pick up toys
Let us all be helpers,
Let us all be helpers.
Girls and boys, girls and boys.

Let's Clean Up
(Tune: "Farmer In the Dell")
Let's clean up today
Let's clean up today
We've had our fun
Our day is done.
So, let's clean up today.

Hands
(The words describe the actions)
My hands upon my head I'll place.
Upon my shoulders, on my face,
At my waist and by my side,
Then behind me they will hide.
Then I'll raise them way up high,
And let my fingers fly, fly, fly,
Then clap, clap, clap them--
One - Two -Three!
Now see how quiet they can be.

Clean It Up!
(Sung to the tune of: "Are You Sleeping")

Trash is dirty, trash is dirty,
Clean it up! Clean it up!
Listen to the trash man
Put it in the trash can.
Clean it up! Clean it up!

This Is the Way
(Tune: "Here We Go 'Round The Mulberry
Bush.")
This is the way we wash our feet,
Wash our feet, wash our feet.
This is the way we wash our feet,
so early in the morning.

Repeat the song using other body parts, like
hands, fingers, toes, tummy, etc.

After a Bath
(suit actions to words)
After a bath, I try, try, try
To wipe myself 'till I'm dry, dry, dry
Hands to wipe, and fingers and toes,
And two wet legs and a shiny nose.
Just think how much less time I'd take
If I were a dog, and could shake, shake,
shake.
