Make paper duck characters to
use with your duck activities and
songs this week. Print this large
duck template
to make Mommy Duck
(print directly on yellow construction
paper if you wish). Print this smaller
duck template
5 times using 5 different colors of construction paper to make the baby ducks. Cut out and tape to the wall, an art easel, or a poster or flannel board.

Make this Easy Shapes Duck Craft
or make this Duck Paper Plate
Craft
with your child's hands.

Explore ducks at the local duck
pond or lake. Feed the ducks if
feeding is allowed.

Make your own Indoor Pond:
Put sand in a dish pan. In the middle of
the sand, dig a hole large enough for a
plastic bowl to fit in and fill it with
water. Place plastic animals around the
sand and in the water and let your
child explore your indoor pond.

Find the Ducks
Hide stuffed, rubber, or paper ducks
for your child to find. As your child
gets close in proximity to a hidden
duck, make the "quack quack" noise,
explaining to your child that "Oh, you
must be close! I hear a duck quacking!"

Pretend Ducks
Pretend to be ducks, quacking and
waddling.

Duck Feet Painting
Fill a tray with  yellow paint and use
spatulas to make  webbed footprints
on construction paper.

Little Ducks Song
(tune to London Bridges)
Little ducks go quack, quack, quack
Quack, quack, quack,
quack, quack, quack-
Little ducks go quack, quack, quack
In the springtime.

Five Little Ducks
Five little ducks went out to play,
over the hills and far away
When the mother duck called with a
quack, quack, quack
Four little ducks came running back.
(Continue until there are no more ducks. At
the end say:
But when the mommy duck called with a
QUACK, QUACK, QUACK
Five little ducks came running back.)

The Little Ducklings
All the little ducklings
Line up in a row.
(Stand up)
Quack, quack, quack,
And away they go.
(Hands and thumbs together with both
hands)

They follow their mother,
(put hands behind as a tail waddle
Waddling to and fro.
Quack, quack, quack
And away they go.
(repeat above)

Down to the big pond
Happy as can be. (smile)
Quack, quack, quack
They are full of glee. (repeat)

They jump in the water
(jump up and down)
And bob up and down,
Quack, quack, quack,
they swim all around.
(repeat)

All the little ducklings
(swimming motion)
Swimming far away.
Quack, quack, quack,
They'll play another day.(repeat)
