Field Trip Idea:       A local campsite that has tents, or a local park. Pack a picnic basket.

Pretend Camp
Make an old fashioned  tent
draping some blankets over  a
large table. Use sleeping bags or
large pillowcases and lay on the
floor in the tent with the lights off.
Hold flashlights, sing songs, eat
hot dogs and s'mores or enjoy a
sack lunch, etc.


Star Gazing
Go on a scavenger hunt
throughout the house to find
stars. Look on blankets, clothing,
inside books, etc.


Nature Hike/Wreath
Take your child on a hike outside
(your yard, the neighbor's yard,
the park, etc.)   to collect nature
items such as leaves, sticks,
small rocks, and dirt. Make a
Nature Wreath by cutting the
center out of a paper plate, then
gluing on the nature items you
have found. Embellish the wreath
with glitter if desired.


Shadow Puppets
Darken the room and experiment
with a flashlight and shadow
puppets.

Bear Hunt
If you child owns teddy bears,
hide them throughout the house
and then "hunt" for them, being
sure to place the found bears in a
trashbag so they won't get away!

(pretend to be rowing w/your arms)

Going Camping

I am going camping.
(point thumbs proudly to chest)
Time to pack
(point to wristwatch)
My tent, my bedroll,
(Make tent with hands; then fold hands
to cheek.)
And a snack.
(Pretend to eat)

I'll sit by the campfire ----
(warm hands over fire.)
Its glow so bright.
(Fan and wiggle fingers to resemble
fire.)
Then snooze in my tent
(Pretend to snore.)
'Til the morning light!
(Open eyes wide, forming sun over
head.)

Did you ever go a-camping,

Numbers: 1 to 5

Shape: Star

Scavenger Hunt:
Go on a "red" scavenger hunt
and then a "blue"  scavenger
hunt (separately), collecting an
assortment of items in the
house that's red and blue.
Search fun places like closets,
drawers, the kitchen pantry, the
bookshelf, garage, etc.



Indoor/Outdoor play with
push/pull toys.

Playtime with peers (playgroup
or public area such as a park,
children's museum, etc.)

Microwave S'mores


1 graham cracker split in half
1 large marshmallow
4 squares chocolate bar

Step One - Assemble the
S'More in this order: one
graham cracker half, chocolate
bar, marshmallow, and then
top with the second graham
cracker half.

Step Two - Place into a
microwavable dish. Microwave
for 45 seconds. (This may vary
according to your own
microwave.) Enjoy!
