Free (and Mostly Free) Classes for Moms and Kids

 

freeclasses.gifIf you've ever wanted to learn to replace your toilet, use the latest iPad apps, or try-out yoga, all for FREE, you are in luck!  We've done some digging around and have found quite a few stores in our area that offer free or low-priced classes for you to learn new things!

 

For the Moms 

Montgomery County Public Libraries
Our public libraries offer a treasure trove of learning, all for free! Adults can learn computer programs, crafting, and even gardening. Have a look at the Montgomery County Library website for the full Events Calendar. Visit website.

Apple Stores
With all these new devices, Apps, iThis and iThat, it can get a little confusing to just answer your phone these days!  Luckily, the Apple store at The Woodlands Mall offers free workshops to teach the basics or take the skills you already have to a new level.  They also have many great classes to increase your productivity and creativity with your devices. DIY-U at Lowe's
Lowe's offers marny workshops to guide you through a variety of popular home projects, from simple bath updates to complete lawn makeovers. Register to join live online or in store. Visit website.

Harris County Precinct 3 Programs
Did you know that part of The Woodlands is in Harris County Precinct 3? This precinct offers tons of fun, free activites for both kids and adults. There's canoeing, fishing, hiking, woodworking, gardening, and more!

Yoga at City Place

Home Depot
Do-it-your/herselfer's from all skill levels will find something fun to build at Home Depot's workshops.  Tired of nagging at the man in your life to update the toilet?  No worries, you can learn to do it yourself plus pick the perfect color to paint the walls afterwards every Saturday from 10-11:30:  Visit website. 

Michaels
Michaels, located in the Portofino shopping center in The Woodlands, has some great classes as well as demonstrations for the crafty Mom!  They also have paper crafting, painting and jewelry making. Home Depot
Home Depot offers FREE hands-on workshops; designed for children ages 5 - 12 on the 1st Saturday of every month at all The Home Depot stores between 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment.  All kids get to keep their project, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin.

Lakeshore Learning in the Shenandoah Portofino often offers fun educational events for children. Events are walk-in on select Saturdays, from 11am - 3pm.
