Editor’s Pick: Holiday Inn Club Vacations Galveston Seaside Resort (Signature Villas)

You will probably never see me regularly recommending a Holiday Inn… but this one is the exception.

Last year, we discovered the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Galveston Seaside Resort, and ever since then, I’ve gotten quite a few DMs asking where to stay in Galveston. So I wanted to share a closer look, along with some recent photos, because this one is absolutely worth considering.

We stayed in the Signature Villas, and for our family, they were the highlight of the entire experience.

Location & Overall Feel

This particular resort is located farther down the island, away from the busy stretch of Seawall Boulevard. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the more central, high-traffic areas, but that’s exactly what makes it special.

The vibe here is quiet, peaceful, and private, with wide-open beach views and a slower pace that feels like a true getaway.

Signature Villas vs. Standard Units

There are two main types of accommodations here, and it’s worth noting the difference:

  • Signature Villas:
Located directly on the beach (no street crossing), with their own more private, upscale pool area and quick access to on-site dining. These are the units we stayed in.
  • Standard Resort Units:
Still very nice and just across the street from the beach. These are closer to amenities like mini golf, the playground, and sand volleyball courts, which may be a plus depending on your family’s priorities.

Inside the Signature Villa

Our villa was a two-bedroom, two-bath unit with a sleeper sofa, which is perfect for a larger family. The first time we stayed in the Signature Villa, the second bedroom had 2 queen beds. However, on our most recent visit, the second bedroom had one king-sized bed. My two girls didn't mind sharing the bed, but I'm sure they preferred separate beds like they'd previously had.

Here’s what stood out in the villa:

  • Full kitchen with all major appliances
  • Coffee maker stocked with coffee and tea
  • Three TVs
  • Full-size washer and dryer (with detergent provided)
  • Dishwasher with detergent included
  • Bathrobes and slippers for a little extra comfort

The design leans into soft beachy tones (whites, blues, and airy neutrals) which made the entire space feel calm and relaxing.

And one of my favorite features:
The master bedroom faces the beach. You can open the curtains and see the ocean right from your bed. The same goes for the living area, which also opens to a private balcony with seating, perfect for morning coffee or winding down in the evening.

A Note on Updates

From what I could tell, the units have been updated and look fresh overall. That said, they don’t feel 100% newly renovated. There were a few small areas (corners, edges, etc.) that showed a little wear.

If you’re someone who notices every detail, you’ll likely see it. But for us, it was absolutely not a deal breaker.

The Bathrooms (Worth Mentioning!)

The showers deserve their own moment.

They feature rain shower heads, and the master shower actually has two, which made it feel especially relaxing (like a mini spa experience after a day at the beach).

Why This Setup Works So Well for Families

If you’re traveling with more than four people, this type of stay just makes sense.

Most standard hotel rooms max out at four guests, and beyond that, you’re either squeezing in or booking a second room, which adds up quickly.

With a resort villa:

  • Everyone has space
  • You can spread out and relax
  • And you can save money on food

On our stay, we kept things simple:

  • Dinner one night was Stouffer’s lasagna in the oven
  • Breakfast included eggs and turkey bacon

Having a kitchen and a fridge to stock with groceries makes a big difference.

A Few Other Places I Enjoy in Galveston

While this resort is a standout for family stays, there are a couple of other spots in Galveston that I’ve enjoyed for different reasons:

Harbor House Hotel & Marina
If you want something modern, simple, and incredibly convenient, Harbor House is a great option. The location right on the harbor is hard to beat, and I love that breakfast is included.

A small note: If you’re coming back from the beach with sandy items, the sinks can feel a bit shallow, which isn’t ideal for rinsing things out. But overall, the ease of access and waterfront setting make it a favorite.

The Tremont House
Located in the Strand District, The Tremont House offers a completely different experience—elegant, historic, and full of charm.

The rooms feel spacious and luxurious, with high ceilings and a more refined, sophisticated atmosphere. It’s a great choice if you’re planning a stay that leans more toward dining, shopping, and soaking in the historic side of Galveston.

Final Thoughts

All in all, I would absolutely recommend the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Galveston Seaside Resort, especially the Signature Villas if they’re within reach.

It’s not overly flashy, but it’s comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and offers space, serenity, and true beachfront living for families.

If you’re looking for a quieter coastal escape with room for everyone, this one is definitely worth a look.
