Special Needs Movie Night in Market Street, April 2

Cherry Creek Mortgage and Market Street-The Woodlands are hosting a free movie night and recreational resource fair created for families with special needs children Sunday, April 2 at 6 pm. Families with special needs children are invited to engage with local recreational and supportive agencies, which will be present to answer questions and provide details about their programs. 

A few of the entities participating include: We Rock the Spectrum sensory gym; Let them Drum special needs drummers; five-time Special Olympics gold medalist winner Chad Hedrick; ORWALL (Oak Ridge Woodlands Area Little League) Baseball; Easter Seals; Sailing Angels, offering therapeutic sailing; Inspiration Ranch, offering therapeutic horseback riding; local artist (who is on the spectrum) Grant Manier; and ASD Hope, which is committed to expanding educational opportunities for children on the autism spectrum.

THIS WEEKEND! Children’s Memorial Hermann IRONKIDS Texas!



Mark your calendars for children’s race day in The Woodlands! Registration is now open for the Children’s Memorial Hermann IRONKIDS race which takes place on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Pre-Race Activities will begin at 9:00am at Town Green Park and include face painting, local vendors and more, followed by the race at 10am! This family-friendly fun run offers young athletes ages 3 to 13 years the unique opportunity to feel the excitement of competition while enjoying the outdoors and promoting healthy living.
 
Parents, family, and friends are invited to cheer on the racers while they run through The Woodlands at distances of 1 mile and ½ mile (Racers can choose distance on race day). The $20 registration, which benefits the Memorial Hermann Foundation can be done online at www.ironkids.com and includes a t-shirt, finisher medal, and goodie bag.

Science Palooza at The Woodlands Children's Museum

Got science? The Woodlands Children’s Museum will host a different, interactive science experiment every day of the week during its Science Palooza.

The exploration begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. from Saturday, March 11, through Saturday, March 18, at the museum located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280. 

The planned experiments include:

  • Magnetic and glow slime on Saturday, March 11
  • Marshmallow sink or float on Sunday, March 12
  • Water microscopes and bending light on Monday, March 13
  • Hydrophobic sand on Tuesday, March 14
  • Invisible ink on Wednesday, March 15
  • Vision tricks on Thursday, March 16
  • Green oobleck on Friday, March 17
  • Solid water on Saturday, March 18

McDonald's Houston Children's Festival - April 1-2

 

Tickets are currently on sale for the 29th Annual McDonald’s Houston Children’s Festival, returning to downtown Houston April 1-2.   This year, the festival is proud to announce its new website.  Visit  www.houstonchildrensfestival.com to purchase your tickets, and online buyers will receive a $2 discount off the regular ticket price of $12.  The upgraded website provides more detail regarding the entertainment schedule, games and interactive activities, food and beverage as well as information on Child Advocates, the beneficiary of the festival.

This year’s festival will also feature the three-time nominee for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award “Favorite TV actor,” Jack Griffo.  Known for starring in the Nickelodeon series The Thundermans, where he plays Max Thunderman, the twin brother who strives to become a supervillain.  Griffo first made appearances as an extra in 2011 on the television series Kickin' It and Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures. He followed-up with several guest appearances on television series such as See Dad Run and Jessie.
