We're Smitten! Schakolad Chocolate Factory - A Whole Lotta Chocolate Awesomeness!
Written by Karen Logan
altIt's a beautiful, LOCAL chocolate factory with a magical aroma!! One glorious Valentine's Day about a decade ago, my husband presented me with a  box of chocolate-covered strawberries from Schakolad Chocolate Factory. Since then, my special holidays have often included delightful boxes of decadent chocolates, crafted right here in The Woodlands.

With our 2018 Valentine's Day on the horizon, I decided to drop in at Schakolad Chocolate Factory, located at 1500 Research Forest Dr., to learn about the care, expertise, and quality that goes into the store's chocolate-making process. I'll spare you too many details, but over the years, you've heard me talk about my treats from Schakolad not only because  the chocolate is delicious - my absolute favorite, in fact -  but also, this family-owned factory and store uses no preservatives, waxes, paraffin or other additives, plus they provide vegan-friendly, allergy-friendly, gluten-free and sugar-free options.

For the past 12 years, Schakolad has prepared the highest quality chocolates on-site at its Woodlands location. The chocolate here is rich and tastes great!  At this point, if all your mind is conjuring up is some little puny chocolate nuggets, have I got news for you!

This store has it all: solid chocolate bars (milk, dark, and white chocolate),  ganache, truffles, chocolate-covered popcorn, strawberries, various flavors of gelato, chocolate teddy bears, chocolate covered pretzels and Oreos, and SO  many other delights including beautiful chocolate molded creations. Chocolate chess board & pieces, chocolate backgammon, cigars, musical instruments... (How much time do you have?) Below, I've included a photo of one of my favorites - the 3D high heeled shoes!

altCome on now, folks! Please refrain from licking your screen!

Says Veronica Kearney, owner of Schakolad Chocolate Factory, "I start thinking about the person who will receive these gifts from the moment I start cooking the chocolate. My chocolate is a vehicle to spread joy, and everyone buying chocolate for Valentine's Day is thinking about someone very special to them. I take that very seriously."

Here's the deal. You can walk into Schakolad and make your purchase anytime during their open hours which are Monday through Saturday, 10am - 6pm.  But the season of love is upon us, and Schakolad usually sells approximately 600 pounds of chocolate during the Valentine's Day rush.

So for Valentine's Day especially, I encourage you to call 281-292-9900 to place your order ahead of time by phone. (Like right now!) This'll make your purchase process so much more efficient when everyone else is in a frenzy choosing last-minute gifts! Don't worry if you don't know exactly what you want. The friendly staff will make suggestions and help you decide on something your gift recipient will love!

Schakolad is around for all your special occasions and non-occasions, and they offer summer camps, corporate team building exercises, birthday parties, and more! Chocolate dipped cake balls with pink or blue inside might be just the thing for your upcoming gender reveal party! Bottom line is, these people are creative and flexible, their chocolate is delicious, and we're glad they're in the neighborhood! They even let me slip on a glove and dip my own pretzel!
