"Girls Who Code" is in The Woodlands!
Have you heard of Girls Who Code? It's a nonprofit organization which aims to support and increase the number of women in computer science. The organization works to close the gender gap in technology and change the image of what a programmer looks like and does. All across the U.S., there are free after school programs for girls in grades 6-12th to use computer science to impact their community and join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models. Club girls learn the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals, and functions that form the basis for all programming languages — whether they want to build a website, an app, or a robot. Returning Clubs girls can deepen their programming knowledge through extended activity sets.

There's a Girls Who Code club in our area! Outside from the clubs at a few of the local schools in our area (must be a student at the school to register), The Mitchell Library has a weekly Teen Girls Who Code club for girls ages 13 - 17 years. Meeting times are each Thursday from 5:30pm - 6:30pm, and registration is required. Call 936-442-7728 x6310 or register online at countylibrary.org/calendar.htm for each week's session. Teach a girl to code, and she'll change the world!
