Restaurants & Dining - Editor's Picks - July - October 2014

We’ve been cooped up all summer in the AC, now that cooler weather is just around the corner, it’s time to enjoy the outdoors and some of the great restaurants that offer dining al fresco!

Chuy’s
www.chuys.com
18035 IH 45 at Research Forest, Shenandoah
936-321-4440
Texans love their TexMex and Chuy’s does not disappoint!  You’ll love their creamy jalapeño sauce with your chips, tacos, fajitas or you could just drink it right out of the bowl!  Chuy’s outdoor feels like you’ve been transplanted to the tropics with lots of palm trees, bright colored décor and some great 80s tunes filling the background!  This is a great, fun place to kick back and relax with your favorite date!

The Lake House Waterfront Cafe and The Grove

1600 McKinney, 1611 Lamar Street, Houston
713-337-7320
The Lake House is set next to Kinder Lake, the fountains and performance stage in Discovery Green Park in downtown Houston.  This casual restaurant has great outdoor seating for people watching or beautiful indoor seating with floor to ceiling windows.  The menu is casual with burgers, salads and hot dogs and is great to take with you for a picnic on the lawn of Discovery Green.  When you’re done with your picnic, walk over to The Grove for their blackberry cobbler for dessert on their beautiful garden patio.

Nonnies Soda Fountain

www.facebook.com/NonniesSodaFountain
102 Market Street, Tomball
281-516-1942

Nonnie’s is an old-fashioned ice cream parlor nestled off the main drag in historic downtown Tomball.  After a stroll through the antique stores and wine bars in Tomball, take a break at the antique ince cream counter or out on the porch and enjoy a banana split or one of their delicious root beer floats!
