Visitors are invited to stroll on the trails free of charge. The Discovery Room in the Nature Center features interactive exhibits for all ages. Catering to the homeschooling community, the arboretum offers tours, homeschool classes, and private group workshops.

Watch a 3-D movie in the IMAX Theater, meet Tyrannosaurus Rex in the main exhibit hall, get lost in space in the planetarium, learn about ancient civilizations and scientific finds in the special exhibit halls, and discover the amazing world of insects in the Butterfly Center.

Families can spend all day on a self-guided tour, stopping to observe the animals and attend Keeper Talks. Students can also join Club HS, an exclusive club for homeschoolers. With Club HS, students attend exhibit expeditions, station explorations, or conduct field research.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Education program at iFLY uses iFLY’s unique vertical wind tunnel facility to make STEM exciting, relevant, and accessible to all students. Our curriculum has been designed by teachers and STEM professionals to support STEM learning in your classroom.  Highly trained STEM Educators will guide your students through an interactive presentation, demos in the wind tunnel, and a grade-appropriate lab activity. Our field trips are hands-on and inquiry-based, and designed to get students excited about STEM. Every child will be trained by our ace flight instructors, who are certified to IBA flight standards, before entering the tunnel for their flights!

The park features sandy beaches, swamps, a pine forest, and a variety of wildlife and plants, and a nature center. Whether as a guided tour and presentation or self-guided tour, explore the recreated Akokisa Indian Village and Redbud Hill Home Homestead.   Walk or bike on the trails, and canoe or kayak on the creek. 

John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science (The Health Museum)   www.mhms.org
Walk through the human body in The Amazing Body Pavilion, take a glimpse of yourself in 30 years in You: The Exhibit, watch a movie in the McGovern 4-D theater, or observe a real organ dissection. Homeschool classes are also offered.

The Learning Center offers field trip programs to registered groups of fifty or less. Activities include a nature discovery walk, a course on pond ecology, catch and release fishing, lessons on alternative energy, recycling and composting, and cooperative games.

Operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Sea Center Texas offers free interactive educational programs and group tours of its nature center, hatchery, and aquarium. Go on self-guided or group tours of the visitor center, hatchery, or wetland exhibit.

Space Center Houston is the official visitor’s center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Take a behind-the-scenes look at NASA’s facilities and learn about the history of space exploration and the life as an astronaut. Homeschool Day is offered annually.

The Spring Creek Greenway is a nature preserve uniting Harris and Montgomery Counties. Walk the trails or canoe down the creek and observe the plant and wildlife in this space of diverse ecosystems. Register for the nature center’s free tours and classes.

The Children’s Museum Houston www.cmhouston.org
The Children’s Museum invites children to learn about complicated science concepts and cultures through interactive hands-on exhibits. Homeschool days are offered.

Waterworks Education Center www.houstonwaterworks.org
Groups of fifteen to thirty-five students are welcome to visit the Waterworks Education Center for free guided tours. Learn about water science and conservation from a water drop’s point of view by traveling through each stage of the treatment process.

The John C. Freeman Weather Museum http://www.wxresearch.org/wpmuseum/
At the Weather Museum, families can view the exhibits independently or take a guided group tour of the facilities with a meteorologist, so be prepared with weather questions! Make a forecast video in the Weather Studio. Learn about hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons. Watch meteorologists and museum staff members perform experiments.
